Mac Os X Pcl Printer Driver
What you can do is create a new IP printer. For the protocol select either LPR or HP JetDirect - Socket (this is printing to RAW Port 9100). If you select LPR then ensure you enter the correct queue name (check what the PC's use for the queue name however you may find they default to Port 9100).
Then in the Print Using, type gener and all the Generic PCL Gutenprint ppds will appear. Select the PCL5e or PCL6 (depending on what the Aficio supports) and click Add. This should get the Mac printing from most of its applications.

Somehow Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and HP psc 750 printers are incompatible. Neither Apple nor HP cares enough to provide drivers that allow one to print & scan with this device and OS. In most cases, when you add a printer, macOS uses AirPrint to connect to the printer or automatically downloads the printer’s software (also called a printer driver). Don’t install the software that came with the printer or from the manufacturer’s website; follow the instructions in one of the tasks below, and macOS will prompt you to download the latest software if it’s needed. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it!:-( Perhaps someone can chime in with its name? The only other way I know how to print to PCL printers from a Mac is to use Windows NT or 2000 Server with Services for Macintosh enabled.

I was able to print with a foomatic driver from <http://www.linuxprinting.org/foomatic.html>
This is actually the same driver. The hpijs driver I linked to uses the foomatic driver that you gave the link for. The difference is that the page I linked to has an easy 'double-click to install' package instead of several archives that need to be downloaded and installed from the command line. :-)
With regards to the thread you mention, I also initially used one of the Gimp HP Laserjet drivers. The problem was that they didn't support double-sided printing. The hpijs drivers in the above install package support most printer features, including double-sided (duplex) printing.

Life saver! Works well with Aficio 1232C (OSX 10.3.9)
There are downloads now available for various Ricoh printers at llinuxprinting.org; see <http://www.linuxprinting.org/download/PPD/>. I downloaded the one for Ricoh Aficio 1060, chose it in the Printer Setup Utility (using HPJet Direct socket) and it works so far on my iBook. Haven't tried all the options yet.
BTW, an irony is that although the printer(copier/scanner) was set up for Windows use in our office, my 'unofficial' Mac is the only one that can make the printing function work. Kudos to open source.
