Before resetting the SMC, try these steps:

1. Check the volume

How to check your sound settings

If you’re running the latest version of macOS and your sound still isn’t working, the next step is to check your Sound settings.

  1. Click on the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.
  2. Click on the Sound pane.
